What is a Container?A Container is a Storage Location that is made up of bundled items. Generally, these 'bundled' items will be forced to move with the other items in the bundle because they are packaged in such a way that prevents them from moving independently.
The other very important feature of the Container is that your general item entry users that do not have permissions to create new Storage Locations in the system can indeed create a Container Storage Location (but only within the Container folder). These users also have the ability to generate labels to go on the bundle for processing.
Enabling ContainersThe Containers option must be enabled in your Organization by an Administrator. If you are an Administrator, go to Settings > Organization and find the section for 'Use Containers'. Edit the option and turn this on.
When this option is turned on, it will create a single folder in the root of your Tools > Storage Locations called 'Containers'.
How to Bundle (Containerize) ItemsHere is a Case with four Items that are stored in the Evidence Room Storage Location.
When the User is entering the Items, they will simply select a Storage Location they have access to.
The option to 'Add to Container' will come after they have entered all the Items.
After all the Items have been created, you may select Items you're interested in by clicking the checkbox in their Row and then go to Actions > Add to Container.
This will bring up the Add Item(s) To Container screen but now one very important option has been enabled.
The User performing the Transaction can now create a new Container Name or choose from an existing Container.
In the Container Name field, simply begin to type a new Container Name or it will provide a list of existing containers to choose from.
In this example, I typed the word 'Containers/' and it is showing any other Containers in the Containers folder.
Or you can type a new Container name. When done, click Ok.
Now we see all of our Items in this new Container (Storage Location) called NewContainer01 and it's within the Storage Location 'Containers'.
Printing A Container Label
When printing a Custom Label, simply click the Print Custom Label box and make a selection. Your label will then appear.

Note: The print label will only exist while the Container is within the storage structure Containers.
Once this Container is Moved outside of this strucuture it will no longer allow the printing of the label.
If you are an Administrator, you may also print Container Labels from within Tools \ Storage Locations:
Simply select the Container you'd like to print a label for (found in the Containers folder). Click the Reports box and make a selection.
Changing ContainersItems can be Moved to other Containers simply by clicking the Items to be moved and doing the same 'Add to Container' Transaction.
Scanning a Container LabelSo not only are all these Items 'bundled' together but now you can go to the Scan page and Scan the location (container) label and it will bring up all the Items in that Container. From there you can process a Transaction like any other Scan.
Moving a ContainerAs long as a Container is located within the Containers structure of Tools > Storage Locations, it will act like a Container.
If someone with appropriate Permissions to the Storage Locations structure were to Move the location outside of this Containers folder, it will act like any other location.
Note: To Move a Container folder outside of the Containers strucutre, simply select the Container in Tools > Storage Locations and Edit that location.
From this edit menu you can move the location anywhere else.
